For Sale: Taylor Hobson Chasing Lathe

Machines (Large Tooling)
Renovate (Complete but not finished)
Taylor Hobson Chasing Lathe
This is a Taylor Hobson made chasing lathe for turning and chasing threads.
It was used in the factory to produce the fine and accurate threads used to make optical assemblies.
The lathe is in good condition, the main slide and cross slide are smooth with no rust. The slides have large dials with stops to enable repetitive cuts to be made.
The headstock is interesting. It is mounted on points to enable it to be rocked back and forth. I assume it was used to engage the cutting tool.
A lot of the operations of the lathe are a mystery to me but there is a couple of articles in Machinery Magazine from the fifties describing the lathe (I don't have a copy unfortunately).
The lathe comes with a mass of jigs, chucks tools, and some things I have no idea about. Most of these are covered in a fine coating of rust but should clean up.
There are two motors, one to drive the headstock and one to drive the main slide.
The table shown in the photographs is not included (I don't have it).
The lathe really needs to be restored to its former glory but I don't have the time. If you want to take it on all you have to do is contact me.
